This popular new affordable model has the patented OnePass technology, meaning the brush is designed to clean up everything without having to go over it repeatedly. Combined with a powerful 12 amp motor and cyclonic suction, it is specifically designed to get pet hair from deep down in your carpets.
How versatile is it?
This Bissell pet vacuum has a dial on the base with five height settings to clean different types of floors. The lowest setting is for bare floors and low pile carpet, the highest for high pile and shag carpets, with 3 options in between. Most vacuum cleaners have different settings for different flooring heights, but very of few of them have 5, giving you more options as needed.
Another option this vac has in common with most others is an option to shut off the brush roll. While this may not seem like a necessity, it’s really helpful to turn the brush roll off when vacuuming bare floors so the spinning brush doesn’t fling around the debris you’re trying to suck up.
This is especially important if you have dog and cat hair on your bare floors, which tends to float and can be blown away by a spinning brush, but you’ll notice it most if you have kitty litter on slick floors like linoleum or hardwood. By shutting off the brush roll, the little pellets are picked up instead of tossed around.
How well does it work for allergies?
While it is not advertised as having a HEPA filter or filtration system, this Bissell pet vac does claim to have multi-level filtration, so while it’s not rated for those suffering with asthma or allergies, it should do better than a machine with just a basic filter system.
There are so many Bissell vacuums to choose from, especially in the CleanView with OnePass series. All have 5 height adjustments for different types of flooring including hardwood floors and different carpet piles. All have the same accessory package including an extension wand, dusting brush and crevice tool. All come with a turbo brush, but the one included with the 8531 is specifically designed to clean pet hair. Here’s how they rate differently.
Model 3247 (Deluxe Rewind): This one costs slightly less and has a smaller cleaning path width at only 13.5”. The power cord is longer at 35”, and the weight is less at 16.95 pounds.
Model 9595: This is a more basic model with a cheaper price tag and a lesser weight of 15.1 pounds but with a larger dirt canister at 2.27 liters. It also does not have the auto cord rewind.
Model 1330: Versus the 8531, this one has a larger dirt container of 2 liters, 13.5” cleaning path width and no automatic cord rewind.
Model 3583: Slightly lighter in weight at 15.1 lbs. with a 13.5” cleaning path.

In user reviews, one thing users don’t like about the Bissell is that it’s a bit on the heavy side. However, in review after review, it is said in spite of the weight, it’s still easy to steer, and the weight is a small concession when you compare it to the suction power you get.
The Bissell Rewind CleanView Pet is a good vacuum and is a step up from other Bissell vacuums currently on the market. While the others range in price from about $65 and up, this one has a higher price tag but also has the extra features to back it up. While they all have about the same power and suction, this one has a wider cleaning path and a specialized pet tool.
While it’s not the best on the market, at well under $200, it’s still a good value for the money. The Bissell brand is known for making inexpensive vacuum cleaners that work great for those on a budget. If you have pets and don’t want to spring for a Dyson or other expensive pet vac, this one is certainly a good choice. Amazon has it on sale with free shipping right now.
If this vac completely blows your budget, while they’re not specialized for pet hair, you may want to take a look at the Bissell CleanView with OnePass or the Rewind SmarClean. Both are good options in a lower price range with great reviews.
