There’s a reason the Bissell CleanView with OnePass 9595, also known as the 9595A model is a best-selling vacuum cleaner. Considering the price of under 100 dollars and its performance, it’s a pretty good deal. While it doesn’t stack up so well against more expensive brands like Dyson and Shark (these are highly recommended if you can afford to upgrade), it’s still a good machine for the money and certainly a good starter vacuum.Amazon has this Bissell on sale for 20% with free shipping
One of the nice features of the Bissell 9595 is its adjustable brush height. This means you can use it for both hard floors and different types of carpet by making a simple adjustment. While more expensive models do this automatically, for the price, it may be worth it for you to adjust the brush roll yourself. The good news is the height adjustment is a round knob on the front of the base of the vacuum, and it’s easy to turn, even when the unit is running.
Unfortunately, the roller does not turn off when going over bare floors. While you’ll find it does a great job of sucking up larger particles, this means some fine ones may get away as they are spun out by the running brush.
Another thing we really like about this Bissell CleanView is the weight. At only 15.1 pounds, it weighs about the same as the Shark Rotator and is very easy to push, pull and carry if necessary.
Many reviews of this budget model say it’s strong enough to suck the fibers out of an old carpet, so this means it’s strong enough to pull up dirt as well! One thing you can do to keep it sucking strong is to keep the filters clean. As with any vacuum, you’ll want to wash these regularly to keep the performance and suction strong.
HEPA Filter: This is one great feature often not found on even more expensive models. The Bissell HEPA filter is designed to trap most every particle of dust and dirt so it doesn’t circulate back into the air. This is great if you have pet dander in your house and certainly essential if you have family members with allergies.
Generally speaking, the 12 amp motor in this machine holds up pretty well when compared to other vacuums. Don’t expect it to suck like a brand new Dyson DC65, but for a small fraction of the price, it’s worth the investment. In review after review, users are really impressed with its overall power on both carpet, hardwood, tile and linoleum floors.
Cat Litter: While this budget cleaner tends to throw out small particles of cat litter on hardwood floors, it does pick up the larger pieces and does a great job picking up cat litter on carpet.
Pet Hair: While it doesn’t have the powerful suction of more expensive vacuums, this one does do a pretty good job of picking up short and long cat and dog hair on both hardwood floors and carpet.
Attachments: The Bissell 9595 and 9595A (same model) comes with a brush tool, crevice tool, dusting brush, extension wand and 6’ expandable hose. The attachments fit tightly to the vacuum, so there is no loss of suction when using them.
Clogging: While some cheaper vacuums tend to clog up and stop working, this doesn’t seem to be a problem with the CleanView series. Many reviews say users have had the vacuum for a long time, and it is still a much-loved appliance. As long as you keep the filters clean (they are washable), you shouldn’t have a problem with suction loss.
- Dimensions: 14” x 12”
- Dust cup capacity: 2.2 liters
- Cord Length: 25’
- Filters: Washable
- Weight: 15.1 lbs.
- User Manual
- Nice Long Cord: At 25 feet, this cord should reach just about everywhere you need it to. Chances are you’ll only need to unplug once or twice for the average house.
- Price: For this price, this is a great starter vacuum for those who just need a good basic model to get the job done.
- Attachments: While the price is low, the Bissell still comes with a variety of attachments to help you clean whatever you need.
- Noise Level: Many cheap vacuums are really noisy, but that’s not the case here. While it’s not the quietest appliance you’ll ever use, it’s far from the loudest.
In more than one user review, it was commented that the hose on this vacuum cleaner is too short to make vacuuming stairs comfortable. Even though the hose is 6 feet in length, you’ll need to lift the whole vacuum up every 3-4 steps. While it is lightweight, this can be a pain if you have a lot of stairs in your house.
One of the features buyers commented they would like to see in reviews is an automatic cord rewind. While the 9595 doesn’t have this, the new Bissell CleanView Rewind with OnePass (model 3583) does, and at a similar price. If this is important to you, it’s definitely worth taking a look at this new model.
Overall Impressions – Should I Buy It?
Overall, this is a good solid vacuum. In reports from consumers, it gets 4.5 out of 5 stars, which is a great rating. If you’re just starting out or need the most basic vacuum cleaner for a really inexpensive price, this may be the one to buy. If you can afford more, go for the Shark Rotator or Navigator, which have more powerful suction and more options. If you can’t, this is the one to get.
While it’s not the best vacuum on the market and far from the most expensive, it’s one of the best vacuums you’ll find for under $100. If you’d like to get one, Amazon has it on sale for 20% off plus free shipping right now.
